Musings From The Parkland

What I'm Reading

Just finished “Twisted: Tainted Tales” by Janine Pipe. Thought it was great.

Just read “Abandoned” by Armand Rosamilia” and it too was a fantastic read.

Read my first Duncan Ralston book, ‘Gristle and Bone’ and it didn’t disappoint.

Currently reading ‘Blood and Rain’ by Glenn Rolfe.

Next books to be read are:

‘A Foreign Evil’ by Carver Pike

‘Father of Lies’ by Steve Stred

‘Dark Bites’ by Rick Hipson

‘Severed’ by Joshua Marsella

‘Tortured Tales’ by Todd Love

What I'm Watching

Just finished watching ‘Willy’s Wonderland.’ A strange but entertaining film.

Just watched ‘Blood Red Sky.’ An interesting take on vampires.

I watched the ‘Fear Street’ series all in one go. Part 1, 2 and 3 and thought it was great.

What I'm Listening To

‘The Who’ is always on my playlist. The greatest band ever.

Currently listening to my ‘Queen’ playlist.

I’ve been jogging to my “Punk Run” playlist. Lots of classic punk tunes by The Ramones, The Jam, Iggy Pop, The Clash, The Buzzcocks and more.

People Of Interest

Authors who made a big impression on me.

Alistair MacLean who got me interested in reading to begin with.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle whose character Sherlock Holmes has no match, and whose book “The Hound of the Baskervilles” was my first horror.

James Herbert whose book “The Rats” was my first modern horror novel that I read.

Stephen King who got me interested in the horror genre and who got me thinking in terms of “what if?”

Robert B. Parker whose writing style and gift with dialogue shaped my own writing style more than any other writer.

Joe R. Lansdale who showed me the possibilities of our craft.

Random Thoughts

If I could go back in time, I’d make sure George Romero got his distributor to put a copyright on his film, “Night of the Living Dead.”

Out From The Darkness Of The Parkland

“Tales From The Parkland” has now been published.

Final edits on my children’s fantasy novella “James’ Journey to Dreamland.”

Two scripts that I wrote are now in pre-production. The first to be filmed will be “Chimes” toward the end of August. The second film, “The Crepuscule” should start filming sometime this Fall.

85,000 words into my new novel.
